However, it was Tristan Stubbs who gave Delhi Capitals a major shot at chasing the mammoth target. The 23-year-old South African scored 71 unbeaten runs off just 15 balls.
The innings consisted of three fours and seven sixes. Unfortunately, he did not get to face a single ball in the 20th overs as Geralad Coetzee dismissed Lalit Yadav, Kumar Kushagra and Jhye Richardson to finish with figures of 4/34 in four overs.

Coetzee gets the wicket of Jhye Richardson on the final delivery. Mumbai Indians have won their first match of IPL 2024 by 29 runs. Stubbs does not get even a single delivery to face in the final over. He remains unbeaten on 71 off 25. Lalit, Kushagra and Richardson - all miscued their shots to help Coetzee finish with 4/34 in four overs. The Mumbai camp looks more relaxed than happy. There are on the point sheet after playing four games. Can this win help them turnaround their campaign. Only time will tell.

Smart work from Nabi and Ishan. Axar played the ball towards long-on, and sets off for a double. It could indeed have been an easy double but he did not anticipate the throw on his end after getting back for the second run.
Tristan Stubbs hammered for 13 runs in the first three balls of 19th over. Back-to-back sixes for Stubbs on the first two balls - both over long-on.

Consecutive fifty for Tristan Stubbs. This came off just 19 balls. He has kept Delhi single-handely in the chase, a support would have been appreaciated. 19 runs from the 17th over from Madhwal. He finishes at 0/45 in four overs. Stubbs smashed two fours and two sixes in this over. DC: 172/4 in 17 overs.

The magical Jasprit Bumrah yorker is out and has done the job. Stumps of Prithvi Shaw cleaned, and Bumrah looks ecstatic. A timely wicket for Mumbai. Shaw departs for 66 off 40. Tristans Stubbs walks in. DC: 111/2
A four from Abishek Porel on the first ball of the 11th over. It was a full length delivery and the southpaw lifted it over mid-on fielder for a four. Then a double to complete Delhi's 100. Porel hits another boundary on the fifth delivery. He cut one through point before being dropped by Coetzee on the final delivery. DC: 107/1 in 11 overs. It was full toss and Porel was aiming to work it towards leg, but a leading edge goes towards cover where Coetzee drops a regulation catch. The South African isn't having a good day.
A 31-ball fifty for Prithvi Shaw. Can he provide that inspiration for Delhi? A pull off Coetze towards backward square leg, and then a cuts the very next delivery over backward point for four. A good knock this. Prithvi Shaw has also shown maturity, and played as per the situation. Porel hits a boundary down the ground as Delhi collect 15 from 9th over. DC: 84/1 in 9 overs.
16 runs from the 8th over from Piyush Chawla. A six and two boundaries from Prithvi Shaw. An exquisite cut through deep point for a boundary and then another boundary by dancing down the ground and hitting it past Chawla. Shaw has moved to 46 off 29. DC: 69/1 in 8 overs.
13 runs from the second over from Romario Shepeherd. First Prithvi Shaw guided one over mid-on for a four, and the Porel plays one really late for a boundary towards third man. "Today is Romario Shepherd day," says Harsha Bhogle. Romario Shepherd takes the big wicket immediately after being hit for a six. A slower ball as warner looked to hammer it over long-on. The ball hits the toe-end of the bat and Hardik Pandya at mid-on does the remaining job. DC: 24/1 in 4 overs.
Another economical over for MI. Akash Madhwal gives four from his first over. A bundary for Warner towards mid-wicket on the fifth delivery.
Just four runs from the first over from Bumrah. Shaw faced all the deliveries. One odd lose ball on the leg which was guided for a four towards fine leg. DC: 11/0 in 2 overs.
A flamboyant cut for six over third man and a single as Delhi Capitals collect seven from first over.
Crazy hitting by Romario Shepherd. He has just done what Pollard used to do for MI for a long, long time. Sensational stuff from the West Indies power-hitter. 32 runs in the last over from Anrich Nortje. Mumbai Indians finish at 234/5 in 20 overs. Sachin Tendulkar, Hardik, Ishan, SKY also are on their feet. Tak a bow, Romario Shepherd. He finishes on unbeaten 39 off 10 balls.
