Mumbai, May 11: Mumbai Indians will look to avenge the reverse fixture loss when they host Gujarat Titans in match 57 of IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (May 12).
Both teams will look to improve their chances of sealing a playoff spot as Rohit Sharma’s MI and Hardik Pandya-led GT will look to carry the winning momentum after their recent results against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants respectively.
As it stands, MI are in third position in the IPL 2023 points table, while GT occupy the top spot and both teams will be desperate to get closer to confirming a playoff spot.
GT will be a confident side following the reverse fixture win. But will be wary of Mumbai Indians outstanding record at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
GT vs MI Head-to-Head
In the 2 meetings between the two sides in IPL so far, it’s 1-1 between MI and GT in the head-to-head battles so far. While MI beat GT in IPL 2022, the defending champions beat the record champions earlier this season in Ahmedabad.
In the reverse fixture, GT rode on fifty from Shubman Gill along with cameos from David Miller and Abhinav Manohar to post a total of 207/6 before spinners Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad did the damage with the ball to restrict MI to 152/9.
In Mumbai at the Wankhede, MI and GT have never clashed against each other so far. But the both teams have experience of playing at the venue, which is known as a batter’s paradise.
