MI vs KKR, IPL 2024: Three players who can replace Harshit Rana for Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders are up against Mumbai Indians in an important IPL 2024 match today (Friday, May 3) at the Wankhede Stadium.

KKR have an advanced position in the playoff race but their aim will be to secure the first two places. And a win against Mumbai Indians will be pivotal as they aim to secure that.

But the Knights were handed a blow ahead of the MI match as Harshit Rana will not be available for them. The pacer was reprimanded by BCCI and he has been handed a one-match ban for breaching the IPL code of conduct for the second time this season.

Rana has been a pivotal player for KKR this season. The young pacer has gained a lot of accolades for his bowling, especially at the latter overs of the matches. As the Knights will miss the services of Harshit in this pivotal match, here are three players who can replace the KKR pacer in the squad-

Sakib Hussain

KKR can name Sakib Hussain as a replacement for Harshit Rana. The Bihar teenager has been impressive in domestic cricket and is known for his raw pace. It is to be seen if KKR take the risk and uses Sakib to trouble MI batters. We have already seen Mayank Yadav taking IPL by storm, and Sakib will be hoping to do the same if he gets an opportunity.

Chetan Sakariya

Chetan Sakariya looks like the obvious choice for the Knight Riders to replace Rana. The left-arm pacer is known for his change of pace and other executions at the latter stages and can be a good option at the death for the Knight Riders. There was recently a raise of suspicion regarding his action but that seems to be not an issue at the moment.

Suyash Sharma

KKR have used Suyash Sharma sporadically in this IPL. The young Delhi leg spinner had a decent outing last season but has been underwhelming this season. But the injury to Harshit Rana can provide Suyash with a glorious opportunity. The 20-year-old had a decent outing in this fixture last season and KKR can try him.
