MI vs LSG IPL 2025: What Was The Turning Point As Mumbai Breeze Past Lucknow By 54 Runs?

MI vs LSG: In a thrilling encounter at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians registered a convincing 54-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in Match 45 of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Sunday.

The standout moment came when Nicholas Pooran's wicket fell, turning the tide in Mumbai's favor as they successfully defended a target of 216.

MI vs LSG

Mumbai Indians, after winning the toss, chose to bat first and set a daunting total. They posted 215/7 in their 20 overs, with solid contributions from their top order. Rickelton (58), Will Jacks (29), and Suryakumar Yadav (54) laid a good foundation, while Naman Dhir (25) and Corbin Bosch provided the finishing touches with brisk cameos.

Lucknow's bowlers, however, fought hard. Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav both picked up crucial wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan kept the pressure up throughout. But Mumbai's aggressive approach proved too much to handle.

In reply, Lucknow Super Giants got off to a decent start, but their chase faltered significantly after Nicholas Pooran's wicket, which shifted momentum entirely.

Pooran, who had been one of the key players for Lucknow, was dismissed by Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant fielding, as he took a sharp catch off Will Jacks in the 6th over. Pooran's departure left the Super Giants at 60/2, with the run chase losing much-needed steam.

The fall of Pooran marked the turning point of the match. From there, the wickets fell in quick succession. Mitchell Marsh (34), Ayush Badoni (35), David Miller (24) had their moments but failed to give LSG the fire-power till the very end. Mumbai's bowlers, led by Trent Boult (3/20) and Jasprit Bumrah (4/22), capitalized on the pressure, sending Lucknow's middle order into disarray.

Lucknow's hopes faded further as their lower order crumbled as the Super Giants were bowled out for just 161. Mumbai Indians' disciplined bowling attack and excellent fielding performance proved too strong, with the match ending in a 54-run victory for the hosts.

The turning point, however, was undoubtedly Pooran's wicket. His early departure not only halted Lucknow's momentum but also gave Mumbai the upper hand, allowing them to capitalize on the collapse that followed.

With this win, Mumbai Indians continue their solid campaign in IPL 2025, while Lucknow will need to regroup ahead of their next match. The victory saw Mumbai's bowlers and fielders shine in unison, ultimately proving to be the difference between the two sides.
