Nicholas Pooran produced a stunning return to form with a blistering 63 off just 21 balls for Lucknow Super Giants against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday in IPL 2026.

Coming into the match after a lean run, just 82 runs in eight innings, Pooran emphatically turned the tide on. Batting at No. 3, the left-hander unleashed a fierce assault, sharing a 94-run stand with Mitchell Marsh (44) as LSG raced to their highest-ever powerplay score of 90/1. His innings, featuring one four and eight towering sixes, ended in the ninth over when he was dismissed by Corbin Bosch.

Pooran reached his half-century in just 16 balls, his first fifty of IPL 2026, and etched his name into the record books. He became only the second batter after Abhishek Shar, ma to register five IPL fifties in under 20 balls. Notably, he also holds the fastest fifty for LSG, a 15-ball effort against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2023.

The knock also marked a major milestone, as Pooran became the first player to cross 1,500 runs for LSG. He now has 1,526 runs in 52 matches for the franchise at an average of 37.21 and an impressive strike rate of 174.2. This was his 11th fifty for the team, second only to KL Rahul (12). His tally of 114 sixes for LSG remains unmatched within the squad.

Across his IPL career, Pooran has now scored 2,438 runs from 99 matches at an average of 32.07 and a strike rate of 164.84, including 15 half-centuries. He has also enjoyed success against Mumbai, amassing 307 runs in 12 matches against them at a strike rate nearing 200.

Beyond the IPL, the explosive innings helped Pooran cross the 10,500-run mark in T20 cricket. He now boasts 10,516 runs from 452 matches, with four centuries, 64 fifties, and a strike rate of 147.44, reaffirming his reputation as one of the most destructive batters in the format.
