Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah scripted history on Sunday (April 27) by surpassing legend Lasith Malinga's tally to become the highest wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
The 31-year-old achieved the feat during MI's 54-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where he produced a brilliant spell of 4/22 to guide his team to their fifth straight win of the IPL 2025 season.

Bumrah, who has now played 139 matches for the franchise, has taken 174 wickets, surpassing the previous record held by Sri Lankan great Malinga, who had 170 wickets for the Mumbai Indians.
Following the two slingy action pacers on the list for most wickets for MI are, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh with 127 wickets, former New Zealand quick Mitchell McClenaghan with 71 wickets, West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard with 69 wickets, and current Mi captain Hardik Pandya with 65 wickets.
With his latest four-wicket haul, Bumrah also closed in on Kolkata Knight Riders' veteran spinner Sunil Narine's record for most wickets playing for a single team in IPL. Narine currently leads that chart with 187 wickets. Here is a look at the top 5:
The Indian ace pacer Bumrah also drew level in seventh with former Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra for most wickets in IPL history. Only the likes of R Ashwin, Narine, Piyush Chawla, Bravo, Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who recent claimed the second spot, are above Bumrah in the list of highest wicket-takers in IPL.
Having missed the initial part of the season, Bumrah's four-wicket haul not only helped him achieve the personal milestone but also powered Mumbai Indians to their sixth win of the season. It was also their fifth consecutive victory, as the team gathers momentum heading into the final stages of the tournament.
