MI vs PBKS IPL 2026: Shreyas Iyer’s ‘Gravity-Defying’ Catch To Dismiss Hardik Pandya Stuns Rohit & Suryakumar- Watch

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer produced a moment of brilliance in the field to dismiss Hardik Pandya during their IPL 2026 clash against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

The incident unfolded in the 18th over when Hardik attempted to clear the boundary off Marco Jansen. Going for a straight six, he failed to time the shot perfectly, sending the ball towards long-on where Iyer was positioned.

Displaying sharp awareness and athleticism, Iyer leapt to his left to take the catch but realised mid-air that he was about to cross the boundary rope. In a split-second decision, he released the ball back into play and lobbed it towards Xavier Bartlett, who completed the catch comfortably.

The stunning effort left the Mumbai Indians dugout in disbelief. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, seated near the boundary, were visibly amazed by the piece of fielding. The Wankhede crowd erupted in appreciation, with Iyer acknowledging the applause with a gesture towards the stands.

De Kock, Dhir Power MI to 195

Mumbai Indians posted a competitive total of 195/6 in their 20 overs against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in their IPL 2026 clash, riding on a sensational unbeaten century from Quinton de Kock.

After being asked to bat first, MI suffered an early collapse as Arshdeep Singh struck twice in the powerplay, removing Ryan Rickelton and later accounting for Sherfane Rutherford. Marco Jansen also joined the attack, dismissing Suryakumar Yadav cheaply, leaving the hosts reeling at 15/2.

However, MI's innings was revived in stunning fashion by de Kock and Naman Dhir, who stitched together a crucial 122-run partnership. De Kock was in imperious touch, remaining unbeaten on 112 off 60 balls, striking 8 fours and 7 sixes in a dominant display of power-hitting. Dhir played a composed supporting role with a valuable 50 off 29 balls before falling to Arshdeep Singh, who was the pick of the PBKS bowlers with 3/22.

Captain Hardik Pandya managed only 5 runs, while Tilak Varma fell for a single, as MI briefly struggled to regain momentum after the early setbacks. Despite the middle-order hiccups, de Kock's brilliance ensured Mumbai reached a strong total.

With 196 needed for victory, PBKS now face a challenging chase in what promises to be a high-intensity finish at the Wankhede.
