MI vs RCB: Reece Topley takes a blinder to get rid of Rohit Sharma, fans call it 'Catch of IPL 2024' - Watch Video

MI vs RCB: Reece Topley made headlines in a rather forgettable match for his team after taking a blinder to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) get rid of Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma.

On the second ball of the 12th over from Will Jacks, Rohit Sharma got down on his knee and swept the ball hardly, only for Reece Topley to make a full-fledged dive towards his left to pluck a one-handed blinder.

Reece Topley looked stunned after taking the one-hander screamer, and kept lying on the ground as Rohit Sharma departed for 38 off 24. The video of Reece Topley's catch has gone viral on social media.

"Will Jacks gave something to cheer for the RCB fans!! What a freaking catch that was by Reece Topley!!" Robin Uthappa wrote on X (formerly Twitter) to appreciate the catch from the English pacer.

Talking about the match, Mumbai Indians hammered Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets and 27 balls remaining. RCB posted a 197-run target after being asked to bat first after fifties from Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik.

Karthik scored a 22-ball fifty and remained unbeaten on 53 off 23 balls. Jasprit Bumrah picked his IPL career's second five-wicket haul and finished with figures of 5/21 in four overs.

In reply, Mumbai Indians made a mockery of the target. Ishan Kishan smashed a 23-ball fifty, Suryakumar Yadav a 17-ball fifty, Rohit Sharma 38 off 24, and Hardik Pandya unbeaten 21 off six, as Mumbai registered their second win of the season. RCB have now lost five of their six games, and are reeling at the ninth spot in the nine-team IPL 2024 points table.
