MI vs RCB: Rohit Sharma Trolled by Virat Kohli and RCB Fans Following Another Flop Show

By MyKhel Staff

MI vs RCB: The IPL 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium on April 7 turned into a nightmare for MI skipper Rohit Sharma.

Facing an RCB side buoyed by Virat Kohli's scintillating form, Sharma's struggles with the bat continued, sparking a barrage of mockery from Kohli and RCB's passionate fanbase.

The arch-rivalry encounter, already charged with emotion, saw RCB post a daunting 221/5, thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, while MI faltered early in their chase, leaving Sharma in the eye of a social media storm.

Rohit Sharma, who came in as an impact substitute, started with promise, smashing a few boundaries in the powerplay. However, his innings was cut short at 17 off 9 balls by Yash Dayal, who jagged one back to trap him in front.

It was yet another dismal outing for the former MI captain, whose IPL 2025 campaign has been a shadow of his past glories. With scores of 0, 8, 13, and now 17 in his last four games, Sharma's lean patch has become a glaring concern for MI, who slumped to 79/2 after 9.3 overs, needing 143 runs off 63 balls at a steep 13.61 runs per over.

In stark contrast, Kohli arrived at Wankhede in imperious touch, his bat singing as he notched up a half-century and crossed the 13,000-run mark in T20 cricket. His 36* in the powerplay alone nearly matched Sharma's entire tournament tally of 39 runs.

At the innings break, Kohli reflected on his approach, emphasizing adaptability and innovation-qualities that seemed to elude Sharma on the night. The disparity between the two cricketing giants fueled the post-match narrative, with RCB fans seizing the moment to pile on the misery.

Social media erupted as fans unleashed their frustration and glee. "Yash Dayal cleans up Rohit Sharma !! Rohit's poor IPL continues! Well it's been continuing for some time now," one fan tweeted, encapsulating Sharma's ongoing woes. Another jabbed, "Not only Wankhede, whole world stands for Virat Kohli - he is not like Rohit Sharma and Dhoni," drawing a sharp line between the RCB star and his MI counterpart.

The trolling intensified with comparisons: "Virat Kohli failsetect once in every 10 innings and gets trolled. Rohit Sharma succeeds once in every 20 innings and gets celebrated by illiterate fans. This is just THE SAD REALITY FROM 2015."

Some fans took it further, questioning Sharma's longevity. "Virat Kohli is aiming to play WC 2027 and he's gonna cook. But we might lose the world cup again if Rohit Sharma plays it. He should retire asap," one wrote.

Another mocked, "Forget about Virat Kohli. Even our boys Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar are better than this Rohit Sharma." The stats were damning too: "RUNS IN IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma (all matches): 39, Virat Kohli (today's game) in powerplay only: 36*."

For MI, the loss of Sharma early exposed their batting fragility this season, while RCB's bowling attack, led by Dayal and Josh Hazlewood, tightened the screws. As Kohli basked in the adulation and RCB climbed to third in the standings, Sharma faced the brunt of a fanbase reveling in his downfall. The night underscored a tale of two icons-one soaring, the other sinking-leaving Sharma to ponder his form amid the unrelenting taunts.
