MI vs RR IPL 2023: Who said What

Sanju Samson (RR captain): In the time-out the way Surya was going, we were talking about fighting it out. David did something very special. It was kind of getting wet. It was not too wet and we were taking our time to wipe the ball. We had the experience of bowling in these conditions. The way we have been playing either we have won or we have come close. Results do come here and there. We will keep focusing on the process. We will keep focus on the controllables. We will keep fighting hard. I was expecting something special from Jaiswal. He scored 70-odd in the last game we always thought it (hundred) is round the corner.

Rohit Sharma (MI captain): Was pleasing to see how we chased down the target. Last game too, we came close and we back ourselves to chase them down. So it was pleasing. (If Tim David can be next Kieron Pollard) Polly's shoes are big to fill, but Tim has got a lot of ability and power. At the back end that helps and is good to have. The changes in the side are difficult, but sometimes you have to play the conditions and make calls based on compositions, so the players need to be prepared for that. Jofra's had a massive injury, with bowlers we knew they need match practice. But his pace was a big positive and we thought SKY's innings like that was around the corner. (On Yashasvi Jaiswal) I watched him last year, he's taken it to the next level. I asked him 'where did you get the power from'. He said he's been going to the gym, that's good for him, India and RR.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (Player of the Match): When I scored the century, I didn't know that ball had gone to the boundary. So when that happened, I just thanked God for the opportunity, I always had this dream, wanted to work on the process and work hard. Results will follow. I keep myself mentally strong and work on his fitness and diet. Organised my life well outside of cricket. I enjoy playing the straight drive and cover drive, that gives me a lot of confidence. Thank you so much, everyone for the support!!

Tim David (MI Batter): We needed a result. It is an amazing feeling, there's no better feeling than playing at the Wankhede. For our confidence.. We have not played our best cricket in the last few games, so this feels good. It felt everyone (bowler) had to be targeted, good batting conditions and personally I wanted to do something like this for a while. It was sweaty, I was trying to get down the pitch and cut the angle. Any time the bowlers missed the yorker then you were in with a chance.
