The Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals clash on Sunday (April 30) at the Wankhede Stadium will be a landmark event. It marks as the 1000th game in IPL history as the five-time IPL champions MI take on the inaugural IPL champions RR.
And according to reports, BCCI, the apex body of Indian cricket, have planned a small ceremony ahead of the match. It will be a 10-15 minutes ceremony which will be involving the captains of both MI and RR and some ex-players of both teams.

The IPL commenced on April 18, 2008 with a blockbuster first match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Since then, it has rapidly become the heart and soul of Indian cricket and has brought a renaissance to many other sports in the country.
IPL has not only reached lofty heights, but other sports have also emulated the franchise path of the IPL and have found profound success. And as the tournament completes its first millennium of matches, BCCI is going to commemorate the night with an apt tribute.
"The BCCI will hold a small celebration to mark the occasion. The volunteers will be holding the 1000th match flag, "thank you flag" and the Indian flag. The whole ceremony will last for just 10-15 minutes. It will kick off with Ravi Shastri addressing the crowd," a source told as quoted by Times of India.
"Then a video will be played out in which a few players will talk about the IPL. Then, the BCCI office-bearers will hand over memento to both the captains, which will be followed by the national anthem. A dry run will be held on the eve of the match," the source close to BCCI added.

An event management company in Mumbai has been hired by BCCI to conduct the ceremony. Fans at the Wankhede will be witnessing the spectacle as IPL embraces the landmark in style.
