IPL 2024, MI vs RR: Bowling Squad Comparison

Both sides are quite balanced and star-studded. Both have experienced players to help their respective teams glide through the hurdles of IPL. While RR won both of their matches in IPL 2024, MI is still looking for their first win. In the last match SRH thrashed MI bowling on the way to scoring the highest-ever innings total in IPL history.

Jasprit Bumrah will be in charge of the Mumbai pace attack and will be helped by the likes of Gerald Coetzee, Nuwan Thusara, and Luke Wood. MI’s spin department will be led by Piyush Chawla and Hardik Pandya. Till now, Mumbai's bowling displays are not satisfactory, they will try to change that against RR.

Rajasthan Royals pace unit have players like Trent Boult, Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal will spearhead the spin squad. RR bowlers were able to check their opponents within the 170s in both matches and will hope to repeat the same against the five-time champion.

IPL 2024, MI vs RR: Boult vs Bumrah, Who will get maximum wickets?

Jasprit Bumrah: After missing the last season of the IPL, he is back in IPL 2024 with a bang. Though in the second match, he did not get too much luck, in the first match he got 3 wickets with an economy rate of just 3.5. The Indian pacer bagged 148 wickets in his IPL career. He is known for his accuracy rate and bowling in the death overs which were also expected to come in handy in the match against the Royals.

Gerald Coetzee: The right-arm fast bowler is new to the battleground of IPL. Yet he has succeeded in collecting 3 wickets in 2 matches. Though his economic rate is a point of concern, the 23-year-old has enough potential to handle the pressure.

His experiences in other T20 leagues across the country will come in handy in this IPL. In the pacer-friendly ground of Wankhede, he is expected to do some magic to help MI get its first victory of the season.

Trent Boult: The Kiwi fast bowler is the only experienced pacer in the RR pace-battery. His skill to swing the ball in both ways helps him to many successes in limited-over cricket. In IPL 2023, he took 13 wickets in 10 matches.

Boult also has 105 wickets in his IPL career. The left-arm pacer is a former member of Mumbai Indians and is expected to deliver some fiery spells against his former franchise.

Nandre Burger: The South African youngster has not had much exposure to IPL or international cricket. After some promising performances in domestic leagues in South Africa, he was bought by RR in 2023 at a base price. In this IPL he bagged 2 wickets in 2 matches. In the pacer-friendly pitch of Wankhede, he is expected to perform well.

The match against RR will be the first home match for Mumbai in IPL 2024. The five-time champion side has displayed a below-average bowling performance against SRH. While the visitors will be confident about their bowling, after registering two successive wins. In the last season, RR lost their play-off spot to MI by 2 points. In this match, they will seek revenge for that and MI will try to clinch their first win.
