MI vs SRH: Hardik Pandya was brutally trolled as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ripped apart Mumbai Indians with their sensational batting at Match 9 of IPL 2024. SRH completed 100 runs in seven overs, and crossed the 200-run mark in 15 overs after being asked to bat first.

In a surprise turn of events, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya assigned South Africa's uncapped pacer Kwena Maphaka to bowl the first over. Hardik himself took the onus to bowl with the new ball from the other hand, as star pacer Jasprit Bumrah got a chance to go in the fourth over.

Forty runs came off the first three overs from Maphaka and Hardik, before Bumrah applied brakes and gave away just five from the fourth over.

Hardik Pandya then leaked 13 runs as SRH crossed the 50-run mark in the fifth over only. As everyone expected Bumrah to bowl another economical over, Hardik took him out of the attack, and brought him back in the 13th over.

By then Sunrisers Hyderabad had raced to 173/3. Hardik himself completed his four-over spell in the next over, and finished with expensive figures of 1/46. The 2016 champions crossed the 200-run mark in the 15th over.

Fans were livid at the bizarre captaincy decision from Hardik Pandya, who took captaincy from Rohit Sharma ahead of the season. The all-rounder was booed at Narendra Modi Stadium in MI's first match against GT, a team which Hardik led in IPL 2022 and 2023.

The fans booed him once again in Hyderabad. They have been unhappy with Hardik ever since he took the captaincy from Rohit in a surprise move from Mumbai Indians.

The hammering from SRH, gave fans another opportunity to have a go at the 30-year-old cricketer. SRH finished at 277/3, the highest ever team total in the history of IPL.
