IPL 2026, MI vs SRH Toss Report, Playing 11 Announced: MI Won The Toss And Elected To Bat First

At the halfway stage of the season, the Mumbai Indians still have their fate in their own hands, at least mathematically. With seven matches left and 14 points available, a top-two finish remains possible, starting with their clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, given their inconsistency, that scenario feels more theoretical than realistic.

MI's campaign has been erratic. A team capable of scoring 260-plus has also collapsed to 13 for 6 in the Powerplay in another game, eventually getting bowled out for 75. Their numbers reflect the struggle: the lowest total runs (1173), the lowest Powerplay score (366), and just 33 wickets, among the poorest in the league.

Key players have underperformed. Tilak Varma, their top scorer, sits outside the top 30 run-getters. Suryakumar Yadav has only 157 runs at an average of 22.4, a sharp drop from last season. Hardik Pandya and Sherfane Rutherford have also struggled.

Despite this, there is a belief within the squad. "We are working on our weaknesses," said Ashwani Kumar, their most effective pacer. Alongside Jasprit Bumrah, he has been a rare positive.

In contrast, SRH have been dominant with the bat, leading the charts with 1598 runs. Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma have delivered consistently, while Pat Cummins' return has strengthened their bowling. For MI, time is running out.
