By MyKhel Staff

MI-W vs UP-W Dream11 prediction, WPL 2023: Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz will square off in the lone play-off or Eliminator of the inaugural Women's Premier League at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (March 24). The match will start at 7:30 PM IST.

Deepti Sharma UP Warriorz

The two teams are slated for the clash after they finished second and third on the points table with Mumbai Indians bagging 12 points in eight games ahead of UP Warriorz' eight points. This will be the 21st and penultimate match of the competition with the winners finding the remaining slot in the final against Delhi Capitals on Sunday (March 26).

Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz came head-to-head twice in the tournament before with both teams winning one game each. Warriorz won the last encounter on March 18 by five wickets at the same venue as the Eliminator. MI-W earlier won the first encounter between the sides at the Brabourne Stadium by eight wickets and 15 balls to spare on March 12.

Mumbai Indians injury update There are no fresh injury updates reported from the Mumbai Indians camp on the eve of the match.

MI-W batters/wicketkeeper: Yashtika Bhatia, Harmanpreet Kaur among performing Indians

Yashtika Bhatia (wicketkeeper) and Harmanpreet Kaur have been fortunate that two of their Indian batters score runs. Bhatia scored 189 runs while opening the innings, including 30 in the last innings while Harmanpreet is among MI-W's top run-getters with 230 runs.

MI-W all-rounders could be match winners

Mumbai Indians have arguably the best all-round quality in WPL 2023 with Hayley Matthews (in photo above), Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr turning match-winners on different occasions. Kerr and Matthews are currently in the Purple cap race with 13 and 12 wickets respectively behind leader Sophie Ecclestone with 14 wickets.

Wrist spinner Kerr has taken eight of her wickets in the last five games and showed her hands with the bat too as the all-rounder scored a crucial 27-ball 31 in the last game.

Matthews, on the other hand, is also in the Orange cap race with 232 runs and leading run-getter from MI-W. The Windies skipper also played good knocks of 35 and 24 in his last two innings on challenging wickets but has taken just two wickets during the period.

English all-rounder Sciver-Brunt has been an impact player too with 200 runs and nine wickets. She bowled an impressive 2/24 in the last game at the DY Patil but runs have dried up from the bat with just 18 runs in the last three games. She, however, has been overall in good form this season.

MI-W bowlers: Issy Wong leads pace attack, Saika Ishaque wicket-taking form drops

Young pacer Issy Wong has showed she is not just about pace but variation too with eight wickets in eight games. She has been exploitative with the bat too off late with innings of 23 and 32 recently. Spinner Saika Ishaque, who took 12 wickets in the first four games of the season, broke her three-match wicket drought with a spell of 1/31.

Pooja Vastrakar is listed among bowlers but is only used as a utility bowler by skipper Harmanpreet. She, however, carries the reputation of pinch-hitter and played knocks of 19 and 26 in the last two games in the death overs.

UP-Warriorz injury update, team news

There are no latest news injuries from UP Warriorz camp as well so far.

UP Warriorz wicket-keeper/batter: Alyssa Healy, Tahlia McGrath hold key with Indian batters not firing

UP Warriorz batting line-up is largely depending on its foreign batters in skipper Alyssa Healy (wicket-keeper) and Tahlia McGrath in the top-order with Indian names not firing runs. The likes of Kiran Navgire, Shweta Sehrawat and Shabnim Shaikh have done little to impress and have been mere playing 11 fillers.

Sehrawat, however, scored 12-ball 19 in the last game to show her improvement after being retained as the opener.

McGrath is running for the Orange cap with 295 runs and just 15 runs behind top run-getter Meg Lanning. McGrath scored 58, 57, 38 and 50 runs in her last four innings and has also slammed 90* earlier.

Alyssa Healy (in photo) has 253 runs to her name as well with two half-centuries this WPL 2023 and after a dip in form over last few games, the Aussie scored 36 in the last game.

UP-W all-rounders: Grace Harris likely to return on rank turner

Warriorz' lower middle-order batting star has been pinch hitter Grace Harris, who has played some substantial knocks of 72, 39, 46 and 59*. However, the Australian has not retained her place in the playing 11 often with the team's tactical requirements of playing a foreign pacer.

And with DY Patil Stadium a rank turner, Harris is likely to return to the line-up as she is also a handy spin bowler. This also means Deepti Sharma and Devika Vaidya have big roles to play as well with the latter also lost her spot in the playing 11 in the last game.

Vaidya's batting fallacies cost her spot as she failed as an opener. However, her ability to bowl leg spin may lead to her return for the game unless the team opts for Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Parshavi Chopra instead.

Deepti Sharma, on the other hand, failed to pick wickets in the last two games, played at the Brabourne, and gave away runs. However, she is lethal at the DY Patil with all of her four wickets in the last four games coming at the venue.

UP-W bowlers: Sophie Ecclestone leads Purple Cap race

Sophie Ecclestone will be UP Warriorz' main weapon in the virtual semifinal as she leads the Purple Cap race with 14 wickets and has been a prudent batter too 19*, 16* and 22* lower down the order.

Young leg spinner Parshavi Chopra and Team India spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad are expected to fight it out for places in the playing 11 with Devika also in fray. Gayakwad, who was dropped for the last game with Parshavi bowling a 2/29 to impress, has more experience under her belt and bowled a 21/16 against Mumbai Indians in the last game.

Pacer Shabnim Ismail took two wickets in the last game but she is unlikely to play the match with the pitch helping spinners. This also means Anjali Sarwani (4 wickts in 8 games) could be the only pacer in the line-up yet again, a tasted strategy of Warriorz in WPL 2023.

Royal Mumbai Indians vs UP Warriorz pitch report MI-W vs UP-W

DY Patil Stadium appeared much slower than before in the last match with spinners finding it more comfortable to bowl in. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss has been the norm at the venue with spinners finding more help early on. The wicket is much easier to bat on in the second innings.

Recent matches suggest that 160 could be a good total to defend on the wicket but, as pointed out, scoring runs after winning the toss won't be easy.
