Miandad set for re induction into PCB fold

Islamabad, Feb. 7 (ANI): Javed Miandad may come back into the Pakistan Cricket Board fold, as the officials who were involved in conspiring against him have softened their stand.

The News quoted PCB sources as saying that some of the officials who had plotted a move against the former captain were now losing ground and PCB chairman Ijaz Butt, who had always supported Miandad, now wants to take him back in the fold.

"Miandad is expected to get a call from the PCB headquarters within the next couple of days and a possible meeting is on the cards between the chairman and the batsman," the PCB source said.

Butt may request the former star batsman to withdraw his resignation in the meeting, the source added.

"Though the meeting's time has yet to be finalised, it is expected the two would meet before the senate meeting scheduled on Monday. Whether Miandad would turn up for the meeting or not is another matter," he said.

Minadad's resignation came after some PCB officials reportedly ill-treated him in the absence of chairman Ijaz Butt.

"If at all Minadad accepts the request to rejoin the PCB he would now do it under his set conditions," a source close to Miandad said.

According to the source, if no settlement were reached within a few days, the Senate committee on sports would come in to play a decisive role in his re induction.

"The Senate committee that is to meet on Monday is expected to play a decisive role as far as Miandad's association with the Board is concerned. It looks almost difficult that Miandad would go on to accept anything from the Board at this point. He possibly would decide on his future after the Senate meeting," he said. (ANI)
