MIE vs DC Preview

The defending champions, MI Emirates (MIE), are set to face Dubai Capitals (DC) once again in the ongoing ILT20 season. The match is scheduled to take place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday, January 13. MI Emirates had a disappointing start to their title defense, suffering a heartbreaking one-run loss to the Capitals in the season opener held in Dubai on Saturday.

Dubai Capitals, led by a steady 58 off 42 balls from Brandon McMullen, managed to post a total of 133/8 in their allotted 20 overs. MI Emirates, despite the manageable target, faced a nightmarish start to their innings, losing four wickets for just 23 runs by the fifth over, leaving them in a precarious position.

Captain Nicholas Pooran led a spirited recovery with a brilliant knock of 61 from 40 balls, forging a vital 79-run partnership with Akeal Hosein for the fifth wicket. However, both players were dismissed in quick succession, and the lower-order batters couldn't see the team through, resulting in a narrow defeat for the Emirates in their opening match.
