Mithun scripts ICL booster for Bengal sports

Kolkata, Jul 23 (UNI) Bollywood icon and ICL stakeholder Mithun Chakraborty today announced a strategic alliance between his team Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT) and Bengal's prominent sports club Howrah Union Club here.

The formation of a separate company called the Royal Bengal Sports Pvt Ltd was also announced along with the launch the team's website - www.theroyalbengaltigers.com .

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chakraborty said, '' This announcement cements my association with ICL, formulated in March 2008 with the foremost objective of endorsing and promoting sports in West Bengal. The alliance between my team and Howrah Union Club is one of its kind initiative, which aims at taking Bengal's local sports talent, across sporting disciplines, on the path of creating national sports icons from the state. '' Dwelling on the association, Mr Himanshu Mody, Business Head, Indian Cricket League (ICL) said, '' Howrah Union's rich sporting heritage and ICL's in-depth understanding of the modern sports environment will propel sports in West Bengal a long way forward.

ICL acknowledges Mr Chakraborty's instrumental role as an architect of this alliance. We are sure that his iconic status in West Bengal will help promote both organisations and its sportsmen to an unprecedented level in the Indian sports scenario. '' Commenting on cricket, he said, '' Another forthcoming initiative of ICL will be to set up a nationwide infrastructure (cricket academies) equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. These academies will be headed by international and domestic coaches who have revolutionised the game. '' Mr Indranath Dey, Secretary, Howrah Union Club said, '' Over the past 86 years, it has always been our tradition to promote sports and games at the Kolkata Maidans. Today, we are extremely proud to be a part of this mega endeavor, which we foresee to be a milestone in Bengal's sport scenario. '' Mr Rajib Chatterjee, Business Head, Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT), said, '' Talent is never a scarcity in Bengal. All that matter is a platform of recognition and adequate scope to perform.
