By MyKhel Staff

In the latest MLC 2024 clash, the Seattle Orcas triumphed over the Los Angeles Knight Riders by nine wickets on July 10 - Wednesday. The match, held at a Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, saw some exceptional performances, particularly from Ryan Rickelton, who played a key role in leading his team to victory.

The Los Angeles Knight Riders, batting first, posted a total of 168/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Jason Roy was the standout performer with a well-crafted 69 off 52 balls, showcasing his ability to anchor the innings.

He was ably supported by David Miller, who smashed a quickfire 44 off just 22 deliveries, providing the necessary impetus in the middle overs. The Seattle Orcas' bowlers, Zaman Khan and Harmeet Singh, were the pick of the lot, each claiming two wickets. Zaman's economical spell of 2 for 24 in 4 overs was particularly impressive, helping to contain the Knight Riders' batting line-up.

Chasing a target of 169, the Seattle Orcas got off to a steady start despite losing Nauman Anwar early, who was bowled by Spencer Johnson for 4. However, Ryan Rickelton and Quinton de Kock then took charge, putting together a commanding partnership.

Rickelton was in sublime form, scoring an unbeaten 103 off 66 balls, including a series of well-timed boundaries and sixes. His innings was a masterclass in chasing under pressure, combining aggressive strokeplay with tactical acumen.

Quinton de Kock played a perfect supporting role with 51 not out from 46 balls, ensuring that the required run rate never got out of hand. The pair's unbroken partnership of 164 runs saw the Orcas reach their target with just one ball to spare, finishing at 169/1 in 19.5 overs.

The Knight Riders' bowlers struggled to make breakthroughs, with Spencer Johnson being the only successful bowler with figures of 1 for 28 from his 4 overs. Sunil Narine bowled economically, conceding just 25 runs in his 4 overs, but failed to pick up any wickets.

The victory was sealed in the final over when de Kock hit the winning run, capping off a remarkable chase. Rickelton's hundred was a standout performance, earning him the Player of the Match award.

The win further solidified the Seattle Orcas' position in the tournament, showcasing their batting depth and resilience under pressure. The Los Angeles Knight Riders, while competitive, will need to reassess their strategies to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
