Mohammad Amir's Controversial Outburst: "System Ne Kaha Tha Ki Behen Ki..."

Mohammad Amir nearly uttered a slur live on a TV broadcast while criticising Pakistan's team management's selection decisions in the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.

Pakistan failed to go to the semifinals of the premier event for the second time in a row, this time losing in the quarterfinals. Similarly to the 2019 edition, the Men in Green left themselves with too much work in the end, finishing in fifth place on the points table. The team captained by Babar Azam concluded the season with four victories and five losses.

They started their campaign in the thirteenth World Cup with convincing victories against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. However, the 1992 World Cup champions were unable to maintain their winning momentum, as their two victories were followed by four consecutive defeats. Despite victory in their seventh and eighth games, they were unable to turn their fortunes around. Pakistan were defeated by England by a score of 93 runs in the last league game.

Mohammad Amir criticises Pakistan's team management:

Pakistan's World Cup selection picks have garnered criticism from a variety of areas, and Mohammad Amir has also expressed his disappointment. During the process, he came dangerously close to losing his cool and uttering a slur live on camera.

During the successful Champions Trophy campaign in 2017, Mohammad Amir explained how the team management valued match-winners over even in-form players. He said that ex-coach Mickey Arthur and ex-captain Sarfaraz Ahmed wanted him to play in the final instead of Rumman Raees, who did well in the semifinal. The pacer lashed out at skipper Babar Azam, who has been accused of favouritism, saying:

'I became wounded. I got back spasms, so Rumman took my spot in the semifinal. He did well in the semifinal. I got in shape for the big game. 'Amir will play; he is our top bowler,' Mickey and Saifi bhai remarked. We believe he can win this match.'

"Kya system ne kaha tha ki behen ki...." he added.

In terms of the World Cup, India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand have all advanced to the semifinals. Hosts India will face New Zealand in Mumbai on November 15, followed by Australia's match against South Africa in Kolkata on November 16.
