Lahore, Sep 4: Asif Bajwa has, probably, received the best Eid presents in the recent times after Pakistan strike pacer Mohammad Amir, a student from his academy, gave him a unique gift on Eid-al-Adha.

Bajwa, a cricket coach based in Lahore, Bajwa often admits that Amir is the brightest student from his academy.

The tainted Pakistani fast bowler, who in spite of the personal debacle of serving three years in jail for spot-fixing allegations, had a brilliant come back to the international platform.

Bajwa first saw Amir at the age of 11 and groomed Amir as the future star.

Bajwa talking to Mykhel from Lahore, “After watching his bowling at the age of 11, I assumed he has a bright future. Even at that age, he used to swing the ball so sharp and his deliveries used to pitch up at such an unplayable length that the senior batsmen in the nets had great difficulty facing him.”

Bajwa did not take any money from Amir. At the same time, the coach used to provide for his education at a local school and offered Amir free lodging at his own house.

It might have been something that Amir wanted to repay his coach as the Pakistan pacer sent him a special jersey to his coach on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha on Saturday (September 2).

Bajwa said, “I just could not imagine that Amir would be presenting me such a precious gift. This was the jersey He wore on the day of Champions Trophy final against India. Amir’s devastating spell forced India to surrender to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final. If Amir had put the jersey on the auction he would have fetched a lot of money from it. But he proved that he is also a good human being.”

Bajwa further informed that at the end of Champions Trophy, Amir stayed in England to participate in the county cricket for Essex. The left-arm-pacer created quite a sensation there in the Natwest T20 Blast as he became the first bowler to have delivered more than 100 dot balls.
