Pakistan recieve huge boost in the last 24 hours as pacer Mohammad Amir has followed Imad Wasim in his decision to reverse his retirement and make himself available for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in USA and the Caribbean.
Amir, who had announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket in 2020, took to social media to reveal that he once again intends to wear the green jersey and serve his county.

"I still dream to play for Pakistan! life brings us to the points where at times we have to reconsider our decisions, There has been few positive discussions between myself and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and can still play for Pakistan," Amir posted on X.
"After discussing with family and well wishers I declare that I am available to be considered for upcoming t20WC, I want do this for my country as it comes before my personal decisions. Donning the green jersey and serving my country has always been, and will continue to be, my greatest aspirations."
Amir last played for Pakistan back in August 2020 in the T20I series against England. During his time away from internationals, Amir kept playing for various teams in T20 leagues around the world.
The pacer's announcement comes just within 24 hours of Imad Wasim's decision to make himself available for selection after reversing his decision to retire following a discussion with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Imad, who had announced his retirement in Novemeber 2023, took to social media on Saturday (March 23) to reveal that he has made himself available for national team selection in the T20I format.
"I am happy to announce that pursuant to meeting PCB officials, I have reconsidered my retirement and am delighted to declare my availability for Pakistan cricket in T20I format leading up to ICC T20I World Cup 2024," said Wasim in his X account.
"I would like to thank the PCB for reposing trust in me and I would give my very best to bring laurels to my country. Pakistan comes first!"
The duo had featured in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9, where Imad Wasim helped Islamabad United clinch their third title, while Amir played a role in Quetta Gladiators reaching the playoffs.
Imad may be an immediate pick in the team, while Amir will be fighting for a spot along with the likes of Naseem Shah, Zaman Khan, Mohammad Wasim Junior and Abbas Afridi. The likes of Amer Jamal and Mohammad Ali also could be considered following their recent performance.
The selectors will soon meet to announce the squad for the five-match home series against New Zealand with the series scheduled to start on April 18. It will be interesting to see who all make the cut for that squad.
