'I could become better than him': Pakistan batter makes huge claim after comparison with India star

Pakistan batter and emerging team captain Mohammad Haris has made a bold claim when asked about his style of play which garners comparison with cricket legend AB de Villiers.

AB de Villiers is regarded as the multifaceted batter of the generation. De Villiers' ability to play shots across all parts of the ground makes him unique and has given him an elite status in the cricketing fraternity.

The former South Africa player was a master of improvisation and had the ability to hit at many parts of the ground. And due to that, he was nicknamed as Mr. 360.

In recent times, India batter Suryakumar Yadav has somewhat earned that tag courtesy of his fluid shot-making across all parts of the ground. De Villiers' solo title as Mr. 360 has been somewhat eclipsed by Surya, who has been excellent against pace and spin and has shown the ability to find gaps and play shots anywhere in the ground.

But Pakistan's emerging team captain Mohammad Haris is someone who believes he can take over the aforementioned two and can make the Mr. 360 tag of his own in coming future.

When compared with Suryakumar Yadav, Haris said he is still a decade younger than the India batter, and has the ability to surpass SKY in international formats if he keeps his focus.

"We shouldn't compare the two of us just yet, Surya is 32-33 years old, I am still a 22-year-old boy. To reach that stage I still have to put that work in. Surya has his own level, De Villiers had his own level, I know my own level. I want to make a name for myself as a 360-degree cricketer, not use theirs," Haris told to PAK TV during the emerging Asia Cup.

"He has his own cricket and I have mine. If I practice, I could become better than him, and if I don't, I will remain below him," the Pakistan player added.

The 22-year-old has already played 5 ODIs and 9 T20Is for the Pakistan senior team. He has so far been underwhelming though in senior international cricket, with just 27 runs (average 9) and 126 runs (average 14) in ODIs and T20Is respectively.
