Mohammad Rizwan hits first century of PSL 2025, Multan Sultans post massive 234/3

By MyKhel Staff

PSL 2025: Mohammad Rizwan lit up the Pakistan Super League 2025 with a stunning century -- the first of the season -- as Multan Sultans piled on an imposing total of 234/3 against Karachi Kings in a high-octane encounter.

Batting first at a venue primed for runs, Rizwan led from the front with a masterclass in timing, placement, and calculated aggression, finishing unbeaten on 105 off 63 deliveries.

The Sultans' innings began with typical flair, but it was Rizwan's steady tempo and calculated shot selection that anchored the innings through crucial phases. He brought up his half-century in 38 balls, showcasing his usual mix of risk-free cricket and clinical boundary-picking.

From there, he switched gears, punishing the bowlers with a string of boundaries and two towering sixes in the death overs, culminating in a century that came with elegant wrist work and sharp game awareness.

Supporting him was Kamran Ghulam, who contributed a brisk 36 off 19 balls in a partnership that provided the middle-overs thrust. Ghulam's aggressive approach, particularly against Arafat Minhas and Khushdil Shah, opened up the game for Multan after a couple of stutters in the middle.

But the final flourish came from New Zealand's Michael Bracewell, whose late cameo supercharged the innings. Entering at the fall of Ghulam's wicket, Bracewell wasted no time and launched into the Karachi bowling attack with brutal intent.

He smashed an unbeaten 44 off just 17 balls, peppering the fence with three sixes and as many fours. His onslaught included two consecutive sixes in the final over bowled by Hasan Ali, taking Multan from an already strong position to a total that could prove match-defining.

Karachi's bowling lineup, on the other hand, looked completely rattled in the face of Multan's relentless assault. Adam Milne, despite his pace, was the most expensive of the lot, leaking 60 runs from his four overs.

Abbas Afridi too was taken apart in his final spell, finishing with 1 for 53. Even the usually dependable Khushdil Shah had a forgettable outing, conceding 33 runs in his four overs and bowling a costly over riddled with wides and misfields.

The fielding woes didn't help Karachi's cause either. Dropped chances, missed run-outs, and misfields compounded the pressure as Rizwan capitalized on every opportunity. A five-wide delivery and a fumbled boundary from Shan Masood were just glimpses into a forgettable day in the field for the Kings.

By the end of the innings, Multan had not just posted a colossal score but sent a resounding message to the rest of the league. Rizwan's century, marked by grace and grit, was the cornerstone of their batting onslaught. With a target of 235 looming large, Karachi Kings now face an uphill battle against scoreboard pressure and a well-set Multan bowling attack.
