Mohammed Shami is mainly known for his bowling. The Indian pace spearhead has become one of the most lethal bowlers in the last couple of years and has been a key part of the Indian setup.
Shami has played 61 Tests for India, picking up 219 wickets in the process so far. Although his main role is as a bowler, the Indian pacer can use the long handle with the bat. Batting at the penultimate position, Shami is known to be a reliable player who can just not hang around, but can clear the ropes as well.
And in the recent Test against Australia, Shami has reached a unique milestone. Mohammed Shami has become one of the few lower-order batters for India to reach 25 sixes in Test cricket.
He scored 37 runs off 47 balls in the 1st Test against Australia in Nagpur, and hit 3 sixes during the cameo. The over-boundaries in Nagpur has taken his tally to 25 Sixes in Test cricket, and surprisingly, Shami has now surpassed some Indian stalwarts when it comes to the number of Sixes in Test cricket.

Shami has more sixes in Test Cricket than Yuvraj Singh (22), Ravi Shastri (22), while his third six also took him past Virat Kohli, who has hit 24 sixes in Test matches. Virat, who is more equipped to play along the ground when it comes to Test matches, has scored 8131 runs for India in Tests, but only 1.77 pc of those runs have come from sixes.
For Mohammed Shami, the contrasting fact is that 20.77 pc of his total Test runs have been a result of clearing the fences.
Shami already is further ahead of other Indian batters like KL Rahul (17), Cheteshwar Pujara (15), Shikhar Dhawan (12). India captain Rohit Sharma, who scored a century in Nagpur, has 66 Test sixes to his name.
