India's blind cricket team captain Ajay Kumar Reddy had a cordial chat with pace star Mohammed Shami during the Arjuna Award Ceremony recently.
Both Ajay Reddy and Shami were bestowed with the prestigious award by the Government of India, but it was also a special moment for the two players to share their thoughts.

Ajay Kumar Reddy has been a stalwart for Indian blind cricket over the years. The captain of the Indian team has led the country to multiple World Cup wins and continental victories in his career.
Despite all the difficulties and lack of funding, the gladiators of Indian cricket are still making India proud but get minimal recognition and support. But when Reddy met Mohammed Shami, the India pacer was amazed to know about the blind cricket.
In an exclusive chat with MyKhel, Ajay Kumar Reddy opened up on his interaction with Mohammed Shami.
"I met Mohammed Shami the day before at the players' gathering. Shami was quite amazed when he found out about us. He was wondering and said, 'I won't be able to do that. How are you guys playing even with all those difficulties?'", Reddy said to MyKhel.
"The next day after the ceremony, he came and talked with me at the event. 'Main toh fan ho gaya' (I have become a fan), Shami said and promised that he would be coming to watch the Indian Blind cricket team whenever he gets time," Reddy added.

There are often hardships which the visually impaired players go through in their careers. And Ajay Kumar Reddy says he doesn't want any sympathy, but support only.
"We don't want sympathy, we want support. We want to explore our talent in front of the world. And for that, we need financial backup. People should back talent and let us show what we can do if we get opportunities," Reddy said.
Indian blind cricket team will play against Sri Lanka in a bilateral series but Ajay Reddy is unsure about participating there. Reddy is set to undergo treatment for his recent visual issues but expects to step on to the field soon.
