Mohammed Shami took to social media to share a heartfelt tribute to Wriddhiman Saha, who recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
Saha, a stalwart behind the stumps, was hailed by Shami for his incredible contributions to the sport, leaving an everlasting mark on Indian cricket.

The emotional farewell took place on the second day of Saha's final Ranji Trophy match against Punjab at Eden Gardens, where his teammates gave him a guard of honour. Shami, who has played alongside Saha for several years, praised the 40-year-old for his exceptional keeping and numerous memorable moments on the field.
"Today we bid farewell to a true legend of Indian cricket, Wriddhiman Saha. His brilliant glove work and countless memorable moments, both on and off the field, have left an indelible mark. From the Ranji Trophy to the national team, his dedication and passion have inspired us all. Wishing you the best in your next chapter, Wriddhiman. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations!" Shami wrote.
Saha, who made his mark as one of the finest wicketkeepers in Indian cricket history, has had an illustrious career in First-Class cricket. With 141 matches under his belt, he accumulated 7,169 runs at an average of 48.68, including 14 centuries and 44 half-centuries. In his 40 Test appearances for India, Saha scored 1,353 runs at an average of 29.41, along with nine One-Day International (ODI) appearances. His last Test appearance came in December 2021 against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium.
In addition to his Test career, Saha also enjoyed a long stint in the IPL, having represented various franchises, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings. He was a key part of the Gujarat Titans squad, with whom he won the IPL title in 2022. Notably, Saha played a memorable knock in the 2014 IPL final for Kings XI Punjab, scoring a century.
Despite opting out of the 2025 IPL auction, his love for the game remains evident, and his contribution to Indian cricket will not be forgotten. His decision to retire came after careful consideration and discussions with former captain Sourav Ganguly and his wife, Romi.
As Saha closes the curtain on his remarkable career, his influence on Indian cricket, particularly in the wicketkeeping department, will continue to inspire future generations of players.
