India pacer Mohammed Shami has finally made his elusive return to cricket after a gap of almost a year.
Since the ICC World Cup 2023 final, Shami was ruled out of action due to an injury. The pacer had to undergo surgery and after a long rehabilitation, Shami was cleared for action.

The India pacer's involvement in Bengal's Ranji match was announced early this week by CAB and Shami is playing the ongoing match for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh.
The match, which is being played in Indore, started on Wednesday (Nov 13) and Shami was in action on the very first day.
Bengal batted first and were bowled out for 228 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed scored a brilliant 92 runs but the others faltered as Madhya Pradesh bowlers dominated with their accurate bowling. Mohammed Shami came out to bat and only managed to score 2 runs.
Mohammed Shami took the new ball for Bengal but was largely ineffective for them. The Bengal pacer bowled 10 overs on the day but failed to get any breakthrough. The solitary wicket for Bengal was taken by Mohammed Kaif a Madhya Pradesh are 103 for 1 at the end of the first day's play. Rajat Patidar is unbeaten on 41 while Subhransu Senapati bats on 44 runs.
Shami's long-awaited return is a major boost for Bengal and India. Although the pacer was not at his best on the first day, he is expected to slowly return to his best in the coming weeks. Shami has been a fantastic performer over the years for India and was in the running for India's BGT squad, but was not included due to lack of match fitness.
