Mohammed Shami's mother stable after being admitted to hospital due to nervousness during World Cup 2023 final

Mohammed Shami's mother Anjum Ara had to be admitted to a local hospital in Sahaspur village in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) during the World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia on Sunday.

India were facing Australia in the World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad when Shami's mother, who was praying for many others in the village, suddenly fell sick and was taken to the hospital by pacer's friends and family.

"She was admitted to the hospital due to fever and nervousness. Now, her condition is normal," Mohammed Shami's cousin Dr Mumtaz told The Times of India.

Anju Ara was taken to a better hospital after initial treatment. As per the latest updates, her condition is now stable.

There was a festival-like atmosphere in different parts of Amroha district on Sunday, November 19. Fans there were highly excited about their local boy Shami featuring in the high-octane clash. There were giant screens set up all over Amroha to watch the star pacer bowl against the mighty Australians.

Mohammed Shami finished the World Cup 2023 as the leading wicket-taker. He picked 24 wickets in seven matches at an average of 10.71. He did not play the first four matches, and got an opportunity only after the injury of Hardik Pandya.

After India were restricted to 240 in the final, Mohammed Shami gave India the first breakthrough by taking the wicket of David Warner. Jasprit Bumrah also picked two wickets later but a 192-run partnership between Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne fired Australia to a six-wicket win in the World Cup 2023 final.
