Mohammed Siraj Attains Career-Best Ranking After Match-Winning Heroics Against England at The Oval

Mohammed Siraj's sensational performance in the fifth Test against England at The Oval has propelled him to a career-best 15th position in the latest ICC Test Bowling Rankings. The Indian pacer was instrumental in India's thrilling six-run victory, which levelled the five-match ICC World Test Championship series 2-2.

Siraj's nine-wicket haul for 190 runs across both innings earned him the Player of the Match award. His fiery spell on the final day, where he claimed three of the four remaining wickets including the decisive dismissal of Gus Atkinson, sealed India's narrowest-ever win by runs in Test history.

This surge sees Siraj climb 12 spots, surpassing his previous best ranking of 16th achieved in January 2024. His spellbinding performance also saw him partner with fellow pacer Prasidh Krishna to achieve a rare feat - becoming only the second Indian duo to pick four or more wickets each in both innings of a Test. The only other instance dates back to 1969 when Bishan Singh Bedi and Erapalli Prasanna did the same against Australia in Delhi.

Krishna too has seen a jump in the rankings, climbing to a personal best of 59th. This was only his third Test appearance, and his consistency with the ball has already begun turning heads.

On the English side, Gus Atkinson's impressive eight-wicket haul has catapulted him into the top 10 of the bowling rankings for the first time in his career, while his teammate Josh Tongue moved up 14 places to 46th after also claiming eight wickets in the match.

In the batting charts, Joe Root has strengthened his grip on the No. 1 spot with yet another century - his third in three matches. England's Harry Brook moved back up to second position following his rapid 111 off just 98 balls.

Meanwhile, India's Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the top five courtesy of a classy 118 in the second innings, and New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell re-entered the top 10 with a solid 80-run knock in his latest outing.
