Mohammed Siraj Drops Cryptic Instagram Post After Champions Trophy 2025 Snub: Check Post

India's Champions Trophy 2025 squad announcement on January 18 left many surprised as star pacer Mohammed Siraj was excluded. The tournament, beginning February 20, will be held in Pakistan and Dubai.

Siraj, known for his exceptional performances in ODIs, has been replaced by left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has limited experience in the format with just eight matches.

Mohammed Siraj responded to his omission with a cryptic Instagram story on January 20, featuring a gym photo captioned "reset, restart, refocus," which sparked widespread discussion among fans and cricket experts. Siraj's ODI record includes 71 wickets in 44 matches, making him one of India's most impactful bowlers in recent years.

He played a crucial role in India's Asia Cup 2023 victory, claiming career-best figures of 6/21 in the final against Sri Lanka, and contributed significantly during the ODI World Cup 2023 with 14 wickets, helping India reach the final.

Siraj has also been left out of the upcoming ODI series against England, set to precede the Champions Trophy. His last appearance for India was in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he was the second-highest wicket-taker for India with 20 dismissals, just behind Jasprit Bumrah's 32.

The decision to omit Siraj has drawn criticism, particularly given his role as a lead bowler in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami during recent matches. Arshdeep Singh's selection over Siraj has been questioned, especially as Siraj held the top spot in the ICC ODI Rankings from September to November 2023.

Additionally, Harshit Rana has been named in the ODI squad for the England series as a backup for Jasprit Bumrah, whose inclusion in the playing XI depends on his fitness. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma have yet to provide a detailed explanation for Siraj's exclusion, leaving fans and experts puzzled.

The Champions Trophy starts from 19th Feb and India will be looking to win the tournament for a record third time.
