Mohammed Siraj Injury Update: Hardik Pandya Strike Leaves Pacer Hurt Ahead of India vs South Africa T20 Clash

India's preparations for their Super 8 encounter against South Africa were briefly disrupted after pacer Mohammed Siraj suffered a blow to his left knee during a training session in Ahmedabad.

The incident occurred at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday evening, where India are camped ahead of Sunday's high-profile clash - a rematch of the 2024 T20 World Cup final. According to reports from the ground, Siraj was struck on the knee by a firm shot from Hardik Pandya during net practice. The fast bowler appeared in visible discomfort and subsequently walked out of the nets.

At this stage, there has been no official update on the severity of the knock.

Mohammad Siraj adds to India T20 World Cup fitness concerns

The development adds to India's run of fitness issues during the tournament. Jasprit Bumrah and Abhishek Sharma have each missed a match due to illness, while Washington Sundar also dealt with health concerns earlier in the campaign. Ahead of the World Cup, Harshit Rana was ruled out with an injury, prompting Siraj's late inclusion in the squad.

Siraj has featured in only one match so far against the USA, where he picked up three wickets. In subsequent games, the team management opted for the combination of Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh.

With the Super 8 stage intensifying and qualification scenarios tightening, India will be wary of any further disruptions to their bowling resources.

As India gears up for one of their toughest tests in the tournament so far, clarity on Siraj's condition will be closely monitored. Any absence would require quick recalibration in a match that could significantly influence the path to the semi-finals.
