Upon receiving a hero's welcome in hometown Hyderabad for his T20 World Cup triumph, India pacer Mohammed Siraj presented his World Cup medal to his mother, a gesture that deeply moved many.
He posted a photo on Instagram as her mother Shabana Begum soon after arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Friday. This heartfelt gesture toward his mother is particularly poignant given Siraj's personal journey.

In 2020, while on national duty during India's tour of Australia, Siraj lost his father, Mohammed Ghouse. Despite this devastating loss, Siraj chose to stay with the team and continue playing, a decision that earned him widespread respect and admiration. The pain of his father's absence was evident, yet his unwavering dedication to honour his father's dreams and his national duty shone through.
Siraj, along with his teammates, had earlier arrived in New Delhi from Barbados on Thursday. The team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who congratulated them on their remarkable achievement. Following their visit to the national capital, the team proceeded to Mumbai, where they were celebrated with an open-top bus parade starting from Marine Drive.
Mumbai's streets were alive with jubilation as thousands of fans danced and sang in celebration of India's T20 World Cup victory. Led by captain Rohit Sharma, the players proudly displayed the trophy, sharing moments of joy and gratitude with their supporters. The enthusiasm of the fans was palpable, with some even climbing trees to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes as the bus made its way through the city.
The parade culminated at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, where the players were greeted by an electrifying atmosphere. The Indian cricket team, in a show of unity and celebration, danced to the rhythmic beats of 'dhol' drums, much to the delight of the assembled fans. It was a memorable scene, capturing the essence of India's cricketing passion.
