Most Centuries in T20I: Phil Salt Joined Unique List With Third Hundred Against West Indies

By MyKhel Staff

England batter Phil Salt joined an elite list after smashing his third T20I century against West Indies during the five-match series opener on Saturday (November 9) at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Salt hit an unbeaten 103 off 54 balls as England made light work of the run chase of 183 against West Indies. With that knock, Salt joined four other players to have scored three hundreds in T20Is.

The 28-year-old, who hit 6 sixes and 9 fours en-route to his century, is now only behind three other players in the elite list for most centuries in T20I. Only India's Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Australia's Glenn Maxwell have scored more T20I hundreds.

The England wicketkeeper-batter is only the third player among full-nation teams to have struck three centuries joining Paksitan's Babar Azam and New Zealander Colin Munro. Here is a look at the most hundreds in T20 Internationals:

Most Centuries in T20I

  • Glenn Maxwell (Australia) - 5 Hundreds in 104 innings
  • Rohit Sharma (India) - 5 Hundreds in 151 innings
  • Suryakumar Yadav (India) - 4 Hundreds in 72 innings
  • Sabawoon Davizi (Czechia) - 3 Hundreds in 31 innings
  • Phil Salt (England) - 3 Hundreds in 32 innings
  • Muhammed Waseem (UAE) - 3 Hundreds in 57 innings
  • Colin Munro (New Zealand) - 3 Hundreds in 62 innings
  • Babar Azam (Pakistan) - 3 Hundreds in 116 innings

All of Salt's centuries have come against West Indies with his two previous being consecutive tons nearly a year ago when England toured the Caribbean Island. He is one of four players to have managed to score two consecutive centuries in T20Is.

India's Sanju Samson became the latest entrant in the list after he followed up on his century against Bangladesh with another ton against South Africa on Friday (November 8) in Durban.

France's Gustav Mckeon was first to achieve this feat back in 2022 when he scored back-to-back hundreds against Switzerland and Norway, while South African batter Rilee Rossouw became the second player to smash consecutive centuries in the T20Is, scoring tons against India and Bangladesh also in 2022.
