Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and star batter Virat Kohli finished top of the list when it comes to most dot balls bowled by a bowler and faced by a batter respectively so far in the ICC World Cup 2023.
In limited overs format, batters usually dominate, but when bowlers deliver dot balls in pressure situations, it is considered as gold dust for the fielding side. The ICC World Cup 2023 saw several bowlers produce dot balls, which have resulted in defending totals or restricting teams to below par scores.

In any format of the game, rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking is crucial for the batting team. And in the 50-over format it is the biggest requirement especially in the middle overs as teams look to score big.
A dot ball is a delivery bowled with no runs scored and the reason why it is called a 'dot ball' is because a scorer marks a single dot in the scorebook if a batter does not score any runs.
India's Bumrah, New Zealand's Trent Boult and Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi finished in the top 10 of the list for bowlers with most dot balls bowled in the ICC World Cup 2023.
The bowlers list is dominated by a mix of both quick bowlers, who beat the batters through their sheer pace in the powerplays, and spinners in the middle overs.
Apart from pacers, spinners like South Africa's Keshav Maharaj and Indian spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav also are in the battle to make the top 10 list. Here is a look at the most dot balls bowled list:
| Bowler (Team) | Dot Balls Bowled | Wickets |
| Jasprit Bumrah (India) | 372 | 20 |
| Keshav Maharaj (South Africa) | 321 | 15 |

| Mitchell Santner (New Zealand) | 276 | 16 |
| Shaheen Shah Afridi | 273 | 18 |
While Bumrah, Boult and Maharaj battled for the top spot in the list for bowlers who have bowled most dot balls, South Africa batter Quniton De Kock and India batter Kohli lead the list for batters to have faced most dot balls in ICC World Cup 2023 so far.
Apart from Kohli and De Kock, the top run-scorers of the season so far also feature on the list and it is understandable as they need to spend time in the middle to get some big runs, but some strugglers also are on the list.
