Most Man of the Match awards in ODI World Cup history: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma moved close to the summit with his seventh player of the match award following the victory over England in ICC World Cup 2023 match 29 in Lucknow.
Rohit scored 87 off 101 balls on a challenging wicket at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium on Sunday (October 29) to take India to 229 before Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah ripped through the England batting line up to seal a 100-run win.

Following the match, Rohit was awarded the player of the match for his stellar knock, which included 3 sixes and 10 fours. This was the Indian skipper's second Man of the Match award in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 and seventh overall in ODI World Cup history.
Rohit is now only behind Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar in terms of number of player of the match awards in the ODI World Cups. Tendulkar occupies the top spot with 9 awards followed by Rohit, who now has 7, surpassing Australia great Glenn McGrath, who had won 6 MOM awards.
