Amid the disappointing defeat in Melbourne for team India, Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as one of the bright sparks.
Along with Nitish Reddy, who was excellent with the bat, Yashasvi also showed his class and perseverance across the two innings at the iconic MCG.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant 82 in the first innings and then got unfortunately run out after a miscommunication with Virat Kohli. In the second innings also, the batter missed out on a deserved century as a controversial decision got him dismissed for 84.
The southpaw has been excellent for India in the Test series. He is currently the 2nd highest run-scorer in the Border Gavaskar Trophy with 359 runs, at an average of 51.29. Along with the current BGT form, the youngster has been a prolific scorer for India this year.
Jaiswal had a decent outing in the New Zealand series where he scored 190 runs in three matches. The India batter was excellent at the start of the year against England, where he scored multiple double hundreds.

With his magnificent outing, Jaiswal has emerged 2nd in the list of most runs scored by an Indian in Tests in a calendar year. The 23-year-old has toppled the likes of Virender Sehwag, Sunil Gavaskar to the prestigious list and only the great Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of him. Tendulkar amassed 1562 runs in 2010, which is the most by an Indian in a calendar year in Red Ball cricket.
