Most Wickets in IND vs ENG Series: India ended Day 3 of the second Test at Edgbaston in a dominant position, holding a 244-run lead with nine wickets still intact in their second innings.
The hosts had shown remarkable resistance through a record-breaking partnership between Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, but India's early damage and strong finish ensured they remained firmly on top.

Resuming the day at 77 for 3, England suffered a catastrophic start. Mohammed Siraj delivered a sensational double-strike in the very first over - Joe Root nicked one down the leg side to Rishabh Pant for 22, and Ben Stokes followed next ball, caught behind for a golden duck. It was the England captain's first first-ball dismissal in Test cricket.
With the scoreboard reading 84 for 5, the situation looked bleak for England. However, Brook and debutant Jamie Smith orchestrated a stunning turnaround. Brook played with poise and precision, crafting a fluent 158 off 234 balls. Smith, at the other end, counter-attacked with flair, racing to his century in just 80 deliveries - the fastest in India-England Test history - before going on to remain unbeaten on 184 by the end of the innings.
Their 303-run stand for the sixth wicket is now England's second-highest ever for that position in Tests, only behind the 399-run effort by Bairstow and Stokes against South Africa. Smith's innings also earned him the distinction of registering the highest individual score by an English wicketkeeper-batter in Tests.
After Akash Deep finally broke the partnership by bowling Brook, England's lower order crumbled quickly. Siraj cleaned up the tail with ruthless precision, dismissing Carse, Tongue, and Bashir - all for ducks - to finish with six wickets. England were all out for 407, mirroring their iconic 2005 Ashes total at the same venue.
India responded confidently, ending the day at 64 for 1. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the lone casualty, lbw to Tongue for 28. KL Rahul (28*) and Karun Nair (7*) will look to build on the advantage and guide India toward a match-winning total on Day 4.
