Speaking of the Chennai match, India secured a thrilling two-wicket victory over England. Opting to bowl first, India's disciplined bowling attack restricted England to 165/9. Axar Patel stood out by dismissing key players Jos Buttler (45) and Liam Livingstone (13), while Varun Chakravarthy (2/38), Washington Sundar (1/9), and Abhishek Sharma (1/12) delivered economical spells to keep England in check. Despite the early setbacks, England's late-order batter Brydon Carse injected momentum into the innings with a blistering 31 off just 17 balls, propelling their total to a competitive score.
In the chase, the Men in Blue faced early struggles as most of the batters failed to contribute significantly. However, Tilak Varma anchored the innings with a composed, unbeaten 72 off 55 balls, showcasing his maturity under pressure. Washington Sundar provided vital support with 26 off 19 balls, forming a crucial partnership with Varma. Despite some nervy moments, India successfully chased down the target in 19.2 overs.
Carse also shone with the ball for England, finishing with impressive figures of 3/29 in four overs. However, his all-round brilliance wasn't enough to prevent India from sealing a hard-fought win and taking a firm grip on the series.
