Earlier on Sunday (February 17), Quetta Gladiators had a glorious start in the Pakistan Super League by beating Peshawar Zalmi at Lahore's Gadaffi Stadium. The victory is down to fierce 157-run partnership between opening batsmen Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel.

Jason Roy led Quetta to 206 for 5 with a brisk 75 off 48 balls, and left-hander Shakeel, who had to wait 33 games for his PSL debut, hit an equally impressive 74 off 47 deliveries. Peshawar had a quick start to the chase with 90 runs off 51 balls thanks to Babar Azam (68) and Saim Ayub (42), but in the second half of the innings, their pursuit faltered and they were eventually restricted to 190-6.

In the evening match of the doubleheader on Sunday (February 19), Multan Sultans hammered by Karachi Kings by 55 runs at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

With quick half-centuries from Dawid Malan and Reeza Hendricks, the home team was reduced to 185/2. Malan amassed a 51 from 41 balls after smashing four boundaries and a six. Conversely, Hendricks maintained his composure and batted steadily, scoring an undefeated 79 off 54 deliveries that featured three sixes and seven boundaries.

The Kings' best player was the veteran Shoaib Malik, who scored 54 runs off of 35 balls. West Indies power batter Kieron Pollard gave some late resistance to cut the lead to 28*, but captain Shan Masood finished with 30 off 31.
