Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) moved back to second in the battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024 during their 98-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 54 at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday (May 5).
Sunil Narine took over the lead for player with most sixes this season as he smashed 7 sixes en route to 81 off 39 balls, while Ramandeep Singh finished off the innings with 3 maximums. Andre Russell, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Phil Salt also hit a six each to take KKR to 235/6.

In the run chase, Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Turner hit 2 sixes each, while Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni and Yudhvir Singh contributed a six each, but failed to take LSG close to the target as they folded up for 137.
Earlier in the day, Ravindra Jadeja played a useful hand with the bat, smashing 2 sixes along with 1 six each from Shardul Thakur, Daryl Mitchell and Ruturaj Gaikwad to take CSK to a fighting total of 167.
In response, Prabhsimran Singh got PBKS moving quickly with 2 sixes, while Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar and Kagiso Rabada hit a six each, but the team could only get to 139 in their allotted 20 overs, resulting in a 28-run loss.
The ongoing season has seen over 950 sixes being struck in 54 matches, projecting to a possible breach in the total sixes for an IPL season with just more than 20 matches left to play this edition. The record stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
