Chennai Super Kings (CSK) moved close to a 100 maximums in the battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024, but could not avoid a dent to their playoff hopes following a 35-run loss to Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday (May 10) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Put into bat, Shubman Gill (104 off 55 balls) and Sai Sudharsan (103 off 51 balls) shared a record-equalling opening stand, smashing 6 and 7 sixes during their stay at the crease to take GT to a challenging total of 231/3.

However, CSK could only reach 198 in the run chase of 232 in Ahmedabad, where they had gone on to lift their record-equalling fifth IPL title just over a year ago. The 12 sixes took CSK to 94 sixes for the season.
