Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finished on top in battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024, but fell where it mattered the most, losing the title clash to Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets at the MA Chidambara Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (May 26).
Opting to bat first in the IPL 2024 final, SRH lost their six-hitting opening pair Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head early, and also lost one of the lethal six-hitters Heinrich Klaasen with the trio contributing to zero sixes on the night.

Pat Cummins, Nitish Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed all hit one maximum each in the SRH innings as SRH crawled to 113, which was indeed the lowest total in an IPL final.
In response, the MVP Sunil Narine opened his account with a six, but fell the very next delivery. However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer smashed 2 and 3 sixes respectively to take KKR closer to the title before Shreyas Iyer saw off the chase with the latter in 10.3 overs.
The victory saw KKR lift the Indian Premier League title for the third time, while the defeat was the second for SRH in an IPL final following on from their 2018 runner up finish.
The 2024 season witnessed over 1250 sixes being struck in 74 matches. The season finished with record for the total sixes in an IPL season as several teams got into the six-hitting mode on the flat tracks across the country.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru breached the 160 sixes mark, while all the other teams except Gujarat Titans crossed a century of sixes to make this the best season for maximums. Here is a look at the most sixes scored by a team in IPL 2024 after SRH vs RR IPL 2024 Qualifier 2:
