Punjab Kings (PBKS) made huge stride in the battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024 as they stunned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by pulling off the highest successful run-chase in T20 history during match 42 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday (April 26).
Jonny Bairstow (108* off 48 balls) and Shashank Singh (68* off 28 balls) smashed 9 and 8 sixes respectively, while Prabhsimran Singh hit 5 sixes and Rilee Rossouw hit 2 maximums to take PBKS past 262 and their sixes tally to 85.

Earlier, Phil Salt smashed 6 sixes, while Sunil Narine also hit 4 maximums to help KKR reach the highest total at the Eden Gardens until PBKS surpassed the total with 8 wickets in hand.
Shreyas Iyer (3 sixes), Venkatesh Iyer (2 sixes), Andre Russell (2 sixes) and Ramandeep Singh (1 six) saw KKR go into third for most sixes by a team in the season with 87 maximums.
The ongoing season has seen over 750 sixes being struck in 42 matches, projecting to a possible breach in the total sixes for an IPL season with more than 30 matches left to play this edition. The record stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
