Mumbai Indians, the record holders for most sixes by a team in Indian Premier League history, went level at the top for most maximums in the ongoing season during IPL 2024 match 33 against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadvindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur.
Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma smashed 3 sixes each, while Tilak Varma added 2 maximums, and Hardik Pandya and Tim David hit a six each to take MI's tally to 77 sixes in IPL 2024 on Thursday (April 18).

The ongoing season has seen over 550 sixes being struck in just 33 matches, projecting to a possible breach in the total sixes for an IPL season. The record stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad had taken the lead with 22 maximums against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who also hit 16 sixes themselves in the highest aggregate total for a T20 match. SRH also has 77 sixes in one game fewer than MI.
