Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) claimed pole position in the battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024 following the 27-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to seal the final playoff spot on Saturday (May 18) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Virat Kohli (47 off 29 balls) took over the lead for most sixes in 2024 with 4 maximums, taking his own tally to 37 sixes, while Rajat Patidar also smashed 4 sixes in the RCB innings after the home side were asked to bat first.

Skipper Faf Du Plessis and Cameron Green hit 3 sixes each, while Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik contributed to the sixes tally as RCB set a target of 219 and took their total maximums tally to 157, becoming the first team to cross 150-mark in IPL history.
In response, Rachin Ravindra (61 off 37 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja hit 3 sixes each, while Ajinkya Rahane and Mahendra Singh Dhoni smashed 1 maximum each, but CSK could only reach 191 in their allotted 20 overs, falling short of the qualification mark and the target.
The ongoing season has seen close to 1200 sixes being struck in 68 matches, projecting to the possible extension on record for the total sixes in an IPL season with at least 6 more matches left to play this edition.
