Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stretched the lead in the battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024, but could not avoid defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday (April 25).
Abhishek Sharma and Pat Cummins hit 2 and 3 sixes respectively as SRH took their season tally past 100 sixes. Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Shahbaz Ahmed and Abdul Samad also struck maximums as SRH fell short of the target by 35 runs.

Earlier, Rajat Patidar had smashed 5 sixes in his knock of 50 from 20 balls, while Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis and Swapnil Singh scored 1 six each to move closer to a century of sixes by a team in the ongoing season.
The ongoing season has seen over 700 sixes being struck in 41 matches, projecting to a possible breach in the total sixes for an IPL season with more than 30 matches left to play this edition. The record stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
