Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) continued to dominate the battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024 and sealed the final berth following a 36-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at the MA Chidambara Stadium in Chennai on Friday (May 24).
Put in to bat first in the third playoff match, SRH lost the tournament's leading six-hitter Abhishek Sharma early. But the young opener still managed to hit one six in his six-ball stay at the crease, taking his tally to 42 sixes for the season.

While Abhishek fell early, his opening partner Travis Head and Shahbaz Ahmed also hit a maximum each in the SRH innings. Rahul Tripathi to continued his form with two big hits, but it was Heinrich Klaasen, who smashed 4 sixes to take SRH to 175/9.
In response, Yashasvis Jaiswal started RR's chase with 3 maximums, while Dhruv Jurel was the only other contributor for sixes with 2 as the inaugural champions fell short of the target and bowed out of the tournament.
The victory saw SRH seal the IPL final berth for the third time. The Sunrisers will hope for a better outing than the qualifier 1 against Kolkata Knight Riders in the title clash on Sunday (May 26).
The ongoing season has seen over 1250 sixes being struck in 73 matches, projecting to the possible extension on record for the total sixes in an IPL season with at least 4 more matches left to play this edition.
