Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) climbed up the charts in the battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024 as the two teams crossed a century of maximums for the season during match 43 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday (April 27).
Jake Fraser-McGurk got the ball rolling with 6 sixes en route to 84 off 27 balls, while Shai Hope smashed 5 maximums during his knock of 41 as DC set a target of 258.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs also smashed 2 sixes each, while Axar Patel and Abhishek Porel hit 1 six each to take their sixes tally to 103 for the season.
Later in the run chase, Tilak Varma hit 4 sixes during his knock of 63 off 32 balls, while Tim David and skipper Hardik Pandya also hit 3 sixes, but MI fell short of the target by 11 runs.
Mohammad Nabi, Suryakumar Yadav, Piyush Chawla and Luke Wood also got in the maximums as MI went to third for most sixes by a team in the ongoing season with 100 maximums.
The ongoing season has seen over 800 sixes being struck in 43 matches, projecting to a possible breach in the total sixes for an IPL season with more than 30 matches left to play this edition. The record stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
Earlier in the week, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the leaders, crossed a century of sixes, while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) also made strides in the battle of the sixes. Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad are all above 1000 or closing in on that number. Gujarat Titans and LSG, the newcomers, are yet to cross the 300-mark.
