Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) joined the century club in battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024 during 24-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 51 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (May 3).
Venkatesh Iyer smashed 3 sixes, while Manish Pandey and Angkrish Raghuvanshi hit 2 sixes each as KKR posted 169 all out in their allotted 20 overs after being put into bat by MI skipper Hardik Pandya. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell also hit 1 six each.

In the run-chase, Suryakumar Yadav hit 2 sixes, while Tim David, Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Gerald Coetzee all hit a six each, but Mumbai Indians fell short of the target and suffered their eighth defeat of the season after being bundled out for 145.
The ongoing season has seen over 900 sixes being struck in 51 matches, projecting to a possible breach in the total sixes for an IPL season with more than 20 matches left to play this edition. The record stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
